Over half a decade since its shadowy announcement, IO Interactive's video game 007 First Lighthas debuted to pretty much universal acclaim, and it's already crossed 3 million in sales with no signs of slowing. The massively budgeted blockbuster blend of stealth, gadget-driven spycraft, and outright third-person shooter mayhem delivered one of 2026's triple-A highlights while also giving the Bond franchise at large a shot in the arm.007 First Light isn't quite a perfect game, but it comes bloody damned close, and it's impossible to see it as anything but an unqualified triumph beyond even the loftier side of expectations at this point. It's an early game-of-the-year candidate, and sure to remain in that conversation all year long.
