If we're not counting soap operas, less than a handful of TV shows have reached the historic feat of 600 episodes. Among them are the classic Western series Gunsmoke, which ran for 20 seasons on CBS from 1955 to 1975, and The Simpsons, which aired its 600th episode back in 2016. Soon joining the list is Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which is about to reach the historic achievement in its upcoming 28th season. Currently at 594 episodes, the Mariska Hargitay-led series is only six episodes away from the TV milestone.
