Prime Video's 5-Part Superhero Masterpiece Fails To Crack 1 Billion Minutes Watched for the Third Time in a Row

After five culture-defining seasons and 40 episodes ranging from breathtakingly original to unexpectedly cookie-cutter, Prime Video's blockbuster superhero satire series The Boys came to an end on May 20. The series, based on a rather niche comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, premiered in 2019 and quickly became a runaway sensation. The show offered not only a critique of comic-book culture, but also made some stinging points about American capitalism, white nationalism, and toxic masculinity. Created by Eric Kripke, the series enjoyed excellent critical response throughout its run. But the viewership left a lot to be desired during the series' final season.
