It's been nearly a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 was released onto store shelves, but compared to its predecessor, the rollout of first-party titles from the video game giant has been a bit steadier. After kicking things off with a rather limited first-year lineup including Mario Kart World, the Game of the Year nominee Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders, 2026 has seen things heat up, though. The most pleasant surprise came in the form of the cozy Pokopia, which debuted to some of the highest reviews of a Pokémon game in years, but Nintendo has also garnered praise for the recent Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and has a few heavy-hitters on the horizon, from Splatoon Raiders to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Of all the iconic franchises under the company's umbrella, though, a more underrated piece of its empire is arguably making the biggest comeback.
