Perhaps there's more WWII storytelling out there because the good guys, so to speak, are the ones in charge of telling them. Few people would argue that Americans were the heroes of the Vietnam War, and this collective shame has limited the number of movies about the conflict, and, for that matter, even the Iraq and Afghanistan wars of the 2000s. However, if there's one Vietnam War movie that is always mentioned alongside Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now, it's the one that's about to be released on Prime Video.
