24 Years Later, Christian Bale's Divisive Fantasy Movie Is Finally Getting the Love It Deserves

With House of the Dragon Season 3 just a week away, now is the perfect time to revisit Christian Bale's fantasy adventure—largely because of its dragons. Released on July 12, 2002, the film is set in England in 2020, eighteen years after a London Underground tunneling project inadvertently awakened dragons from centuries of slumber, allowing the creatures to become the dominant species on Earth. The film was directed by Rob Bowman and written by Gregg Chabot, Kevin Peterka, and Matt Greenberg.
