The Boroughs was the type of genre show that streaming needed because it felt like a familiar riff on high-concept supernatural thrillers, yet remained entirely original and emotionally rewarding. Beyond the great performances from its cast, The Boroughs had something to say about aging and loneliness that was heartfelt, which didn't prevent the series from being a blast to watch.
