Hollywood had decided, after Taken proved to be a bizarrely big hit, that Big Liam could be dropped into absolutely any dangerous situation and audiences would happily watch him fight his way out. Kidnappers, terrorists, unruly passengers, angry commuters — the opposition didn't matter as long as Neeson punched someone. But along the way, one of the best movies from Neeson's unexpected transformation into an action star barely resembles the films that followed it.
