The award-winning science fiction novel Luminous by Silvia Park went on sale last March, but an adaptation has been in the works since 2022. This is Park's debut novel, though they had published short fiction in several prestigious venues before. Park was awarded the George R.R. Martin Sense of Wonder Scholarship to attend the Clarion Workshopfor sci-fi and fantasy writing, so this novel drummed up a lot of anticipation in advance. Still, it's not all that common for a young author's first novel to get picked up for an adaptation three years before it is even published.
