2026 hasn't exactly been an ideal year so far for Ridley Scott, who finally returned to the sci-fi genre with the release of his latest film, The Dog Stars. Based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name by Peter Heller, Scott's film did not garner the same reception from critics, and it's also struggling to get off the ground at the box office, especially when factoring in its $70 million production budget. However, Scott will seek redemption once again after his third box office bomb in a row with his next film, Treasure Island, which is scheduled to begin shooting later this year. Scott even told Collider while on the press tour for The Dog Stars that he's eyeing Hugh Grant and Adolescence star Owen Cooper for key roles in the film, which already stars Hugh Jackman.
