9 Years Later, Guy Ritchie's Fantasy Flop Officially Gets a Second Chance on HBO Max

DirectorGuy Ritchiehas certainly been working at an incredible pace these last few years, but despite his talent for making original movies, he seems to really want to create a franchise. Even In the Grey, his latest big-screen release, could very easily have been turned into a franchise had it done better at the box office. But Ritchie must be somewhat used to this experience, as he has never made a sequel to one of his original movies, aside from the Netflix spin-off The Gentlemen. Sherlock Holmes wasn't an original property, and it remains the only movie in Ritchie's filmography that got a proper sequel. Among his many failed attempts at launching a movie franchise are The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Aladdin, RocknRolla, and Fountain of Youth. The most expensive of the lot was also the most ambitious, and it now seems to be spiking on streaming several years after its box-office underperformance.
