Netflix's New Crime Thriller Officially Scores 55 Million Views in Just 2 Weeks

Netflix appears to have a relay race going on, with one new tentpole film taking over from another. This year alone, the streamer has released a streak of hits, several of which have cracked the coveted 100-million-view mark. The most successful of the lot, Alan Ritchson's War Machine, is now among Netflix's most-watched movies of all time. The streamer seems to have successfully transitioned to mid-budget genre movies after spending years (and billions of dollars) on projects with astronomical production budgets. This year, the strategy has clearly been to focus on movies like War Machine, as well as its fellow hits The Rip, Apex, and more recently, The Last House. Now the latest in this ongoing streak of genre hits is a psychological thriller that pays homage to classics from the 1990s.
