Amazon's search for the next James Bond has been quite thorough during the last year or so. Between the time that Daniel Craig retired as the character in No Time to Die (2021) and Amazon's hiring of Denis Villeneuve and Steven Knight to work on the new 007 film, fans had zeroed in on long-time favorites like Henry Cavill or Idris Elba as the next James Bond. It wasn't until casting director Nina Gold came out and said that Amazon was eyeing a younger actor for the project that names like Cavill and Elba were eliminated from contention. The James Bond shortlist was also reported a few weeks ago, with names like Jack Lowden, Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Paul Mescal all in the running to play the next 007.
