Amazon Just Made an Unforgivable Mistake With This Highly-Anticipated Sci-Fi Franchise

Earlier this week, Variety reported that the long-anticipated Stargate reboot project by longtime franchise scribe Martin Gerohas been axed by Amazon after an initial "full series" order back in November. The military science fiction saga may have begun on the big screen with Roland Emmerich's Stargate back in 1994 (a film meant to spawn an unrealized trilogy), but it found new life on the small screen with Stargate SG-1 only a few years later, launching a multi-series television empire that ran for nearly 15 years. While many (including this author) were thrilled at the prospect that Stargate could return with some of the same creative minds involved, it appears Amazon MGM Studios felt differently — and that decision may just prove disastrous as fans and franchise staples alike have expressed their disdain for the news.
