Disney's $1 Billion Sci-Fi Sequel Finally Arrives on Streaming This Week




Sci-fi fans have been treated to some all-time great projects this year, and the first that comes to mind is Project Hail Mary. The space epic is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, who also wrote the book that inspired Ridley Scott's 2015 film, The Martian. With Ryan Gosling as the leading star, Project Hail Mary grossed $680 million at the global box office before being added to streaming last week. Anya Taylor-Joy then made her return to the sci-fi genre with her animated feature, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, where she stars as Princess Peach alongside Chris Pratt as Mario. Looking forward to 2026, there are some highly anticipated sci-fi epics coming down the pipe, including Dune: Part Three, the final chapter in Denis Villeneuve's story, arriving later this year on December 18.
