The Biggest Fantasy Sequel of 2026 Officially Hits HBO Max Next Week




After a year in which A Minecraft Movie took over theaters and Five Nights at Freddy's 2 continued the mascot horror franchise's success, 2026 is shaping up as an even bigger year for video game adaptations on the silver screen. Already, there's been one major surprise in the form of Markiplier's horror hit Iron Lung, which nearly stole the box office crown from Sam Raimi's Send Help, and one expected blockbuster with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie whisking viewers into the stars with the Italian plumber and his friends. On the horizon, though, there's a trip to Raccoon City due with Zach Cregger's Resident Evil in September and a bonkers fighting game adaptation about to step into the ring in October in Street Fighter. Not to mention multiple projects for next year, like The Legend of Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog 4, have taken massive steps forward.
