Some artists just cannot wait another second to make their album. Paul Simon, one-half of the tumultuous folk-rock duoSimon & Garfunkel, knows this better than anyone. In the 1980s, music was distributed mainly through television, tapes, and radio. There was no internet to connect listeners with music from different parts of the world instantly. So when a creatively fatigued Simon encountered a cassette tape from one of the southernmost parts of the world, he could not help but be intrigued by music that was unique to that country.
