Having been hit with blaster fire in the face by Obsession and Backrooms, the first Star Wars movie in seven years saw a cataclysmic second-weekend drop in revenue at the box office. The Mandalorian and Grogu, which was designed to appeal to younger audiences who may not have the same reverence for Star Wars as their parents — and, who are we kidding, grandparents — ironically took a hit from the two horror smash hits directed by men in their 20s. This weekend, both Obsession and Backrooms successfully attracted younger audiences to theaters in a record-breaking phenomenon that can only be compared to "Barbenheimer" a few years ago. And, as a result, The Mandalorian and Grogu found itself slipping to the number three spot on the domestic box-office chart in just its second weekend.
