This 3-Part Thriller Is Officially One of the Greatest Horror Series Ever Made

Serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter appeared first in Red Dragon, Thomas Harris' 1981 novel, as a supporting, but pivotal, character who serves as a consultant for FBI profiler Will Graham in his pursuit of the "Tooth Fairy" from behind bars. A sociopath, for lack of a better word, given he exhibits none of the criteria associated with the term, with an intellect and sophistication that hides the monster within. It wouldn't be until 1991's The Silence of the Lambs, the film adaptation of Harris' follow-up, that "Hannibal the Cannibal" began living rent-free in the minds of moviegoers, thanks to Anthony Hopkins' Academy Award-winning portrayal. Then, in 2011, NBC announced that Bryan Fuller had been approached to develop a pilot script centered around the character. That script turned into Hannibal, one of the all-time greatest TV horror series.
