2026 has already been a bountiful year for sci-fi fans, who have been treated to one of the biggest new releases in years in Project Hail Mary. The film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, grossed over $600 million at the box office before being added to MGM+ a few weeks ago. Amazon announced this afternoon that it's coming to Prime Video this Friday. Over on Netflix, the streamer released one of its most successful movies of all time in War Machine (starring Alan Ritchson), which has officially cracked the all-time top 10 after earning over 130 million views. The same can't be said for the Netflix sci-fi TV show, The Boroughs, which was canceled after only one season after failing to generate the viewership it needed to be renewed.
