Alan Ritchson's World War II Blockbuster Is Leaving Streaming in Less Than 1 Month




Director Guy Ritchie finds himself in a bittersweet situation. Not very many of his recent films have worked at the box office, but virtually all of them have found their audience on home video. Ritchie's last hit was Wrath of Man, which was released in 2021. The theatrical marketplace was still finding its feet after the pandemic — this was before both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Top Gun: Maverick "saved cinema" — and rather surprisingly, Wrath of Man came along and grossed more than $100 million worldwide. None of Ritchie's subsequent movies — and there have been four theatrical features since — did well at the box office. One of them was designed as a franchise-starter, and although it remains hugely popular on streaming, chances of a sequel are low.
