Anne Hathaway's $80M Sci-Fi Thriller Crosses Major Box Office Milestone




Despite the domination by Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey over the last month, the theatrical market finally welcomed another genre movie this past week. Directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced by J.J. Abrams, The End of Oak Street was a throwback not only to the films of Steven Spielberg, but also to the "mystery-box" movies that Abrams produced in the 2000s and 2010s. The film met box-office projections in its first weekend, and has already passed the $50 million mark worldwide. It's still early days, but the movie seems to be on solid footing following its first frame. In three days flat, it managed to overtake the lifetime haul of one of the most well-regarded creature features ever made.
