Right now is an exciting time to be a fan of The Lord of the Rings, and not just due to the franchise's return to the big screen next year with The Hunt for Gollum. The next Peter Jackson-produced Lord of the Rings movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2027, the same day as Avengers: Secret Wars — the predecessor to Secret Wars, Avengers: Doomsday, is opening on December 18 later this year, the same day as Dune: Part Three. The Lord of the Rings fans also have a new open-world RPG from Warhorse Studios, the same developers behind the Kingdom Come series, to be excited about, but there's no word yet on when it will be released. However, there's another big-budget Tolkien-inspired project coming much sooner than the feature film or the new RPG.
