The last two years have been relatively quiet for M. Night Shyamalan, who is one of the most successful directors of all time, despite some major misfires. Shyamalan helped usher back in the era of Josh Hartnett in 2024 with the release of Trap, the psychological thriller that's now streaming on both Prime Video and HBO Max after grossing over $80 million at the box office against a $30 million budget. The year before Trap hit the screen, Shyamalan worked with Dave Bautista and former Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint on Knock at the Cabin, which can be found on Peacock at the time of writing. Shyamalan didn't direct a film in 2025, and he doesn't have anything lined up for release in 2026 either, but he is set to return to the screen next year for the premiere of Remain.
